Ecourse: Coaching Skills for OTs : 6 modules of videos, resources and information
Coaching is a powerful approach to working with individuals and groups.
It enables people to work towards what they want rather than what they don’t want. It is being fast recognized as the “missing link” in helping people to change health beliefs, raise self efficacy and develop sustainable plans.
This ecourse is aimed at Occupational Therapists who want to explore coaching and consider using it as part of their professional “tool kit”. It aims to provide some practical tools and methods of practice. It will show how coaching not only benefits our clients, but also supports our own personal development.
E-course outcomes : At the end of the course, participants will have:
- Identified and understood the fundamental processes involved in coaching including opportunity to use and experience some coaching tools
- Understood the barriers to coaching
- Explored possible applications of coaching within OT
- Tools and techniques to use with service users, patients and other people they work with
- Gained the personal benefits from participation including increased self awareness of values, strengths etc
This is an open access course which can be started at any time and worked through at your own pace. There is approximately 18 hours of learning involved combining reading, watching videos and a variety of exercises.
At the end of the course you will be required to write a short reflective piece on how the course has effected you personally and how how you feel it can assist you with your OT work.
Once this has been received you will be sent a Certificate of Completion.
